Division Six Report - Wk5
Oct 2 2006
After 4 postponements, Westcott finally got their season off to a start with an impressive 5-1 win against Headington RBL B in a rearranged fixture. Steven Green was Headington’s only frame winner, taking the second frame of the night, 83-27 against Andy Huxley. Huxley won the first frame 70-37. Brian Hawes beat Wayne Montgomery 54-32, 49-15, while Pelham Sparks enjoyed a 40-32, 36-23 success against Ron Glover.

In their scheduled week 5 match Westcott were not so fortunate, going down 4-2 to East Oxford Con A. First blood went to EOC when John Richards beat Andy Huxley 54-24, 53-52. In the second frame, Richards increased the division’s highest break to 31, but still came close to losing the frame, thanks to Huxley’s profligacy in missing easy blacks twice, the second time leaving it over a pocket! Pat Young and Brian Hawes then swapped frames, with Young winning frame three 52-42, and Hawes frame four 44-27. Gary Washington and Pelham Sparks also traded frames. 80-50 Washington and 54-42 Sparks.

Oracle C now share top spot in division 6 with Yarnton RBL A following a 5-1 win at Eynsham D. John Ayres and Nino Merola battled through two close frames with both players taking a frame. Pom Merola than beat Syd Patterson, while Frankie Merola beat Dave Walker.

Yarnton recorded their third win of the campaign with a 4-2 win at struggling County C. Lee Parsons and Victor Norman won a frame each, Parsons 46-18 and Norman 58-44. Tony White and Andy Cooper did likewise, White 50-17 and Cooper 42-27. Mick Aust got the better of Lee Smith in the final two frames to give Yarnton victory.
