Headington RBL A top Division Three following a 4-2 win at second placed Cowley Con A. Keith Pearce and Elaine Cox traded frames, Pearce winning the first 47-25 and Cox the second 46-26. Francis Maplethorpe then got the better of Malcolm Grieveson 48-35, 50-16 to put the RBL 3-1 up. Arthur Coakley reduced the arrears by winning the penultimate frame 40-29, but Tony Swatton came back to win the final frame 58-32.

House Club B came from 3-1 down the claim a share of the spoils against Cowley Con B. Steady play saw Mark Bayliss get the better of Paul Larkins (70-16, 56-20), before Keith Philpott picked up House Club’s first frame during his 42-26, 39-54 draw with Jim Smart Jnr. The remaining two frames went the way of House Club when Mike Auger beat Jim Smart Snr 70-11, 62-26.

Morris Motors A beat Thame B 4-2 in a match that could have gone either way. Des Truss beat Tom Fletcher in the opening frame 56-39 before winning the second after Fletcher went in off a respotted black. Dave White appeared to be in control against Joe Kelly, but agonisingly lost both on the black. At 14 behind in the third frame, Kelly potted the remaining three balls to win 41-37 and then came from 15 behind in then the next to win it when White went in off the final black. Nigel Bossom took on Tony Baker and made a break of 22 and a 27 clearance to win the fifth frame 72-16 and then went on the win the final frame 80-14.
