The top four positions in division 1 remain unchanged with Witney A leading the pack, followed by Oracle A and Thame A in joint second 2 points behind, then Fieldside A third with 5 points separating them. Reigning champions County A have now climbed out of bottom place after completing two of their outstanding games and are two points above bottom team Morris Motors A.

In division 2, Headington Con A head the table 3 points clear of Ashton A who have climbed into second place and are one point ahead of Thame B who drop down to third. Then come Cowley Con B followd by Eynsham A and then Cowley Con A who are losing ground rapidly in bottom place.

Headington Con A, the division two leaders, took on County A, the reigning champions, this week and beat them 2-1. Tony Palmer (+100) narrowly lost the opening game 195-200 to James Thorpe (scr) to put County A ahead, but Headington Con A took the next two games when Geoff Barrett (+100) beat Lewis Bland (+100) 100-61 and then Terry Walsh (+80) surprised Jimmy Ewers (scr) 200-186 despite Jimmy's breaks of 30 and 32. James Thorpe made a 28 and Geoff Barrett got a 20.

Oracle A visited Morris Motors A and came away 3-0 winners. Ted Milsom (+50) won his third game in succession beating Roger Tomlin (+50) 150-135. Then Jack Woods (+90) was in sparkling form making breaks of 23, 28 and 38 to crush Doug Baker (+60) 150-82, his 38 break now the highest in section two. Then Richard Connerty (+80) completed the white-wash beating Bob Hayward (+60) 150-104.

Thame A thrashed their colleagues Thame B 3-0. Mark Boyson (+100) won his sixth game in succession by beating Tom Fletcher(+80) 150-85. Martin Cone (-10) beat Pete Hawkes (+110) 200-156 making breaks of 26 and 32, and then Mark Syrett (+60) kept his unbeaten run by beating Nigel Bossom (+60) 150-120.

Fieldside A went to Cowley Con B and beat them 2-1. Norman Woodcock (+70) rode his luck well to beat Colin Simpson (+50) 150-111, but John Simpson (+40) played very consistently to beat Bob Chivers (-40) 200-148, despite Bob making a 40 break. John made a 30 in reply. With the match tied at 1-1, it was left to Paul Robinson (-20) to win the match for Fieldside A and this he did in style to beat Ken Olive (+60) 200-168. This was Paul's seventh win in a row.

Leaders Witney A recovered from their loss last week to beat Cowley Con A 3-0. They won the first game narrowly when Gavin Wright (+20) just hung on against Dick Hashman (-20) 200-195. Another close game saw Chris Warren (+100) beat Arthur Coakley (+90) 150-143, and then captain Terry Cook (+30) won for the seventh time when he beat Keith Pearce (+60) 200-170.

Ashton A beat visitors Eynsham A 2-1. Pete Fenn (+80) put them in the lead by beating Geoff Watson (+90) 150-73 and then Keith Maskens (+60) made it 2-0 beating Ken Leach (+90) 150-97. But Michael McCluskey (+90) salvaged a point for Eynsham A by beating Terry Chambers (-10) 200-172.
