Division Two Report - Wk5
Oct 2 2006
Division Two is currently the most closely fought of all the divisions with 5 of the 7 teams locked on 13 points. Abingdon Con B currently lead the pack courtesy of the number of matches won, but this week had to settle for a draw with Riley D. Robert Adkins and Gerry Clapton won a frame each, Clapton snatching the first frame 42-35, while Adkins won the second 48-38. Abingdon went 3-1 up thanks to Lin Dick who made a break of 28 during his 58-36, 72-27 win against Andy Toole. The final two frames were won 65-35, 56-39 by Riley’s Wayne Reddy which included a break of 31.

Abingdon Con A picked up their first win with a hard earned victory over local rivals Oracle A. Kevin Broughton pipped Dave Noake 55-52 in the opening frame, but Noake then took the second frame 64-26. Bill Cook and Richard Saunders also traded frames, Saunders triumphing 62-40 in frame three and Cook 56-24 in frame 4. The final two frames saw John Dawson get the better of Jamie Saczak 62-50, 49-35.

County B travelled to Eynsham A and came away with a 4-2 win. The opening frame was close and saw Kevin Hicks get the better of Richard Partlett 68-53. Partlett then replied 46-26 to keep up his record of not having lost both frames in a match for over two seasons. Nick Anderson put County in command when he beat Kevin Truby 56-31, 50-4. Lawrence Parsons took the fifth frame 58-9 to pull a frame back for Eynsham, but his opponent, Nigel Wilkins, held on to win a close last frame 49-37.
