Division Five is now the most closely fought division with only 3 points separating first from fifth. Witney E had a bye, but continue to lead the way on 29 points. The next three teams. House Club B, Littlemore RBL A and New Club B are all locked on 28 points while Oracle B are only 2 points further back. Littlemore RBL A and House Club played each other with victory going to the Littlemore side. Richard Berry defeated Brian Field to put Littlemore ahead before Tony Nichols pulled a frame back for House Club. Brian Smith took the fourth frame to put Littlemore 3-1 ahead. The remaining two frames between Littlemore’s Steve Fitzgerald and House Club’s Tony Smith were crackers. Smith took the first on the black while Fitzgerald won the final frame on a re-spotted black, having tied the frame by taking pink and black. Frame Scores: R Berry v B Field 61-39, 54-23; Brian Smith v Tony Nichols 31-63, 51-30; S Fitzgerald v T Smith 40-52, 55-48.

Eynsham C secured their first win of the season with a 4-2 success at home to Cowley Con D. Alan Wakefield beat Doug Turner to put Eynsham 2 up, but Jason Stubbs struggled to get going and was comprehensively beaten by Anthony Turner. Mick Lyne (Eynsham) and Simon Painter (Cowley Con) battled through the final 2 frames, which proved to be very close, both going to the final black and both won by Lyne. Frame Scores: A Wakefield v D Turner 59-46, 49-30; J Stubbs v A Turner 6-40, 5-44; M Lyne v S Painter 34-26, 44-41.

New Club B dropped valuable points against Oracle B, going down 4-2 at home to the Abingdon side.
