Division Three pacesetters, Cowley Con A stretched their lead to 4 points following a 5-1 win against their B side. Keith Pearce lost the opening frame to Mark Bayliss, but from then on the A side took control. Pearce took the second frame on the black and Malcolm Grieveson then beat Jim Smart Jnr. Arthur Coakley wrapped things up by beating Jim Smart Snr. Match Scores:- Pearce v Bayliss 5-53, 56-49; Grieveson v Smart Jnr 56-24, 44-27; Coakley v Smart Snr 40-24, 64-23.

Headington RBL A held on to second place with a hard fought draw at Morris Motors A. The lead changed hands three times. Brian Simmonds won the opening frame to put Headington ahead before Doug Baker took the second for Morris’s. Des Truss then put the Motormen ahead only for Elaine Cox to level things once again. Francis Mapplethorpe gave the RBL the lead for the second time. The final frame went to the black with Tony Baker prevailing for Morris’s. Match Scores:- D Baker v Simmonds 34-49, 78-22; Truss v Cox 46-32, 36-50; T Baker v Mapplethorpe 34-54, 47-36.

House Club B’s took on Morris Motors B and the match ended 3 apiece. Morris’s took an early lead thanks to Chris Martin who pipped Peter Butterfield by a single point in the first frame. Peter Butterfield then took the second frame aided by a break of 24. Mike Augar put House Club 3-1 ahead, beating Ian Dibley in a rather one sided contest. The remaining two frames both went to Morris’s thanks to Paul Smith’s win over Keith Philpott.
