Division Three Report - Wk6
Oct 9 2006
Leaders Cowley Con A blitzed Morris Motors B 6-0 in a rearranged match and take their points tally to 24. They have now scored more points than any other team in the league. However, the match was much closer than the score-line suggests. The first two frames were won on the black, Keith Pearce defeating James Kerr 54-44, 52-43. Malcolm Grieveson then beat Eric Pratt 47-26, 65-38, while Nick Sudworth eased past Ian Dibley 52-32, 40-32.

House Club B moved into second place with a comfortable win over Thame B. Paul Larkins was first on for House Club and took the opening frame 54-22 from Tom Fletcher. In the second frame, Fletcher recorded a break of 20 and looked to have the frame under control. However Larkins staged a comeback and potted most of the colours to forcing a re-spot. With the scores tied at 46-46, it was Fletcher’s nerve which held and he took the black for 53-46 win. Keith Philpott then defeated a lacklustre Dave White 51-25, 74-40. Mike Augar took the fifth frame 54-12 and in doing so, increased the division’s highest break to 39. That was the first frame that Bossom had lost this season and the second soon followed as Augar went on to take the final frame 41-38.

Morris Motors A took on their B team counterparts with the match ending all square. Doug Baker beat Chris Martin 70-32, 47-35 to put the A side ahead. Eric Pratt beat Des Truss 62-56 on the black in the third frame to reduced the arrears, only for Truss to win the next frame 54-30 to restore the A side’s 2 frame advantage. James Kerr rescued things for the B side when he beat Tony Baker 50-11 and 49-42 on a re-spotted black.
