In
Division Six, the performance of the week arguably goes to young
Frankie Merola of
Oracle C who came from 5 snookers behind to win the final frame and snatch the match against
Littlemore RBL B.
Pom Merola gave
Oracle the lead when he beat
Gavin Murray before
Leigh Davies beat
Nino Merola 55-27 in he third frame. Nino then took the fourth frame 38-33 on the black. Up stepped Frankie who promptly lost his first frame 40-26 to
Lee Haggerty. Haggerty then stormed away in the final frame to leave Frankie needing 5 snookers going into the colours. Haggerty let his guard slip thinking that Merola had all but given up. To his credit, Merola clawed back 3 snookers only to leave the green over a pocket, which Haggerty duly potted only to go in off thereby reducing Merola’s task further. Merola eventually got the final snooker and one by one picked off the remaining colours to steal the frame 49-42, but seemingly not without some vociferous gamesmanship from his team!
Yarnton RBL A and Westcott A have both been catching up on postponed matches the results from which sees Yarnton leap to the top of the division and Westcott move into second place. Both teams recently played each other and the result was all square. In their other matches, Yarnton beat Eynsham D 4-2 and drew with Headington Con B, while Westcott drew with Eynsham.
Elsewhere, County C drew with East Oxford Con A and picked up their first ever win with a 4-2 success at Headington RBL B. East Oxford Con have now replaced the County team at the bottom of the division.
