BINT CUP - Round Two Report
Dec 19 2005
There were no upsets in the second round of the Bint Team Cup, with all the ‘big guns’ making it though to the Quarter Finals. Oracle A had no problems against Morris Motors B from Division Three. Vince Taylor, Nigel Barker and Stuart Fenwick all proving too strong for their respective opponents.

It was a similar story for Riley C, who went through at the expense of Cowley Con A. In fairness to Cowley Con, the contest was not as one sided as the 5-0 score-line suggests. Keith Pearce and Malcolm Grieveson each won a frame, but their margins of victory were not enough to swing the aggregates.

Witney A also enjoyed a 5-0 win against Headington RBL A. Justin Buckingham defeated Francis Maplethorpe and mad a break of 55 in the second frame of the match. Chris Warren overcame Elaine Cox, while Tony Swatton was beaten by Gavin Wright who made 52 in the fifth frame and 57 in the last.

After causing an ‘upset’ in the previous round, Cherwell B fell to Witney C. Paul Chester set Witney on their way with a 73-20, 91-15 win over Peter Astall. Mark Clifford then got the better of Colin Adams to level the match at one all, but he was unable to make much impression on the overall aggregate. Colin Cutler steered Witney to victory with a comparatively easy win over Mick Lomas.

Oracle C and Thame D had a real battle, with several notable breaks. Simon Saunders defeated Andy Maguire 81-28, 72-23, hitting breaks of 53 in the first frame and 49 in the second. Paul Evans then responded for Thame. with breaks of 16 and 38 in frame 3 before producing the match’s top break of 54 in frame 4. Jamie Saczak made breaks of 20 and two of 16 to defeat Toby Todd and complete victory for Oracle.

Also through to the quarter finals are Cherwell A who beat Woodstock A 4-1 and New Club A who beat House Club B by the same score.
