Division Three Report - Wk5
Oct 2 2006
Division Three is also proving to be “tight”, with 3 teams on 14 points and the top 5 only separated by 5 points. Cowley Con A kept up their decent start with a third win, this time against House Club B. Dick Hashman and Keith Philpott took a frame each, Philpott 49-17 and Hashman 58-25. Arthur Coakley and Paul Larkins followed suit, with Coakley winning the third frame 56-43 and Larkins the fourth 68-31. Cowley’s match winner was Keith Pearce who beat “out of sorts” Mike Augar 53-29, 54-32.

Thame B won their first match of the campaign with a 5-1 success against bottom placed Cowley Con B who have yet to taste victory. The first frame was a see-saw frame which saw Mark Bayliss get the visitors off to an early lead. However, Dave White then made a 21 break to give Thame the edge and it was then nip and tuck until Bayliss cleared all the colours to win the frame 75-34. In the second frame, Bayliss was ahead throughout until the colours, but this time it was White who prevailed, taking green to black for a 25 clearance and a 57-45 frame win. From then on Thame took control. Derek Syrett got the better of Jim Smart Jnr 51-31, 60-47, while Nigel Bossom disposd of Chick Wheatley 59-21, 41-24.

Headington RBL A consolidated their good start with a draw against Morris Motors B.
