Headington RBL moved up into second place behind
Cowley Con A despite losing 4-2 at home to
Thame B.
Francis Mapplethorpe won the opening frame 52-30 to put RBL ahead, but the lead was short lived with
Dave White taking the second frame 48-26.
Thame then went ahead through
Tom Fletcher who beat
Elaine Cox 41-23 in the third frame. With only the colours remaining in the fourth frame, Cox needed a snooker but this hurdle was overcome when Fletcher went in off on the green. That inspired Cox who took the frame 54-53 after Fletcher fouled on the black.
Thame’s match winner was
Nigel Bossom who beat
Tony Swatton 58-28, 55-30.
At the foot of the table, Cowley Con C came from 3-0 down to force a draw with fellow strugglers Morris Motors A, but they remain 3 points adrift. Doug Baker gave Morris’s the perfect start when he beat Jim Smart Snr 49-13, 55-19 and this was extended to 3-0 after Des Truss beat Jim Smart Jnr 60-45. Smart Jnr then hit back to take the next frame 55-46. Mark Bayliss completed Cowley’s turnaround, beating Tony Baker 58-31, 54-31.
