Cowley Con A have taken over at the top of Division Three thanks to a 4-2 win against local rivals Morris Motors A in a match that saw 4 frames decided on the black, with three of them decided by a single point. Keith Pearce won the opening frame for Cowley Con 56-23, before Doug Baker snatched the second 47-46. Malcolm Grieveson restored Cowley’s lead with a 55-28 success over Des Truss and them made it 3-1 with a 36-35 win in frame 4. Tony Baker reduced the arrears to 3-2 when he took the fifth frame 47-40 on the black, to set up a tense final frame. This time the honours went to Arthur Coakley 49-48.

Thame B came from 3-0 down to salvage a draw with Morris Motors B. Chris Martin cleared the last four colours in each frame to beat Tom Fletcher 49-35, 46-35 after Fletcher had look favourite to win both times. Eric Pratt took the third frame 59-21 to make it 3-0 before Dave White took the fourth 40-31 to record Thame’s first point. Two breaks of 16 helped steer Nigel Bossom to a 53-13 win against James Kerr in the fifth frame while breaks of 16 and 13 in the final frame saw Bossom also claim the final frame 64-58.
