Division Three Report - Wk11
Nov 13 2006
Mark Bayliss of Cowley Con B increased the highest break in Division Three to 40, but that was the only highlight for his side, which slipped to a 4-2 defeat at home to Morris Motors B. The result leaves Cowley Con B as the only side from any division to win this season and lifts the Morris Motors side clear of the relegation places. Bayliss’s break came in the second frame of the match in which he defeated Ian Dibley 98-13. Bayliss had earlier won the first frame 48-29. From then on, the Motormen were in control, James Kerr beat Jim Smart Jnr 53-42, 55-24, before Paul Smith beat Guy Baker 66-17, 67-37 to seal Morris’s win and leave Cowley Con B as the only side in the league without a win.

A 4-2 win for Thame B at home to leaders Cowley Con A sees the Thame side climb to third place, their highest position this season. Dave White and Keith Pearce traded the opening frames, White taking the first 46-22 and Pearce the second, 56-24. A break of 25 and a 22 clearance saw Thame’s Derek Syrett win the third frame 74-31, but Cowley were level again through Malcolm Grieveson who won the fourth frame 53-15. Thame captain Tom Fletcher took on Arthur Coakley in the remaining frames, with Fletcher running out the winner 55-25, 45-21, Flether making a break of 21 in the final frame.

House Club B move into second place after a 4-2 win at Morris Motors A. Doug Baker had no problems in the opening frame and destroyed Paul Larkins 60-7 before Larkins replied 55-42 in the next. Keith Philpott then beat Des Truss 51-10 to put House Club ahead but the lead was short lived when Truss turned the tables on Philpott 49-11 in frame four. Mike Augar took the match for House Club with a 67-41, 56-28 win against Tony Baker.
